TCU GEORGIA 156 | 58th AutoZone Liberty Bowl SPECIAL THANKS BOWL HISTORY HONORS BOWL EVENTS WELCOME SPIRIT OF 1776 AWARD T. Michael Glenn The AutoZone Liberty Bowl is proud to honor T. Michael “Mike” Glenn, executive vice president of market development and corporate communications - FedEx Corporation, with the 2016 Spirit of 1776 Award. This recognition is presented to an individual who embodies the patriotic spirit of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl and has served their community in an exemplary manner, an honor befitting of one of the pioneers of the FedEx brand and an advocate of the Memphis community. During his 35-year career at FedEx, Glenn has led many of the company’s initiatives and programs that have resulted in the global growth of the FedEx portfolio of solutions from approximately $750 million in revenue in the early days of his career to nearly $60 billion today. During his tenure with FedEx, the company has transformed from a domestic U.S. overnight service under the name Federal Express to a global brand representing speed and reliability across a wide range of service offerings. Glenn has championed efforts to protect and promote the brand that has led to FedEx being consistently honored as one of the best places to work, as well as one of the most admired companies. FedEx is often highlighted as one of the world’s leading sports marketers, and Glenn has played a key role in how FedEx has integrated its brand with some of the world’s most popular sports. In fact, 2016 marks the 24th year of FedEx as the Presenting Sponsor of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. Under Glenn’s leadership, FedEx has established long-standing, successful relationships with Joe Gibbs Racing, the NFL, and the PGA TOUR. FedEx’s support for FedExForum made it possible for Memphis to become the home of the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies. Outside of the U.S., FedEx has been a long-time supporter of the ATP Tennis Tour and is in its second year as the Main Sponsor for the UEFA Europa League. Glenn has helped integrate these sponsorships into the marketing, communications and sales strategies of the company, using these as key customer engagement touch points and ultimately driving incremental business. These effective sports marketing efforts have increased awareness of the FedEx brand and helped fulfill the company’s purpose of connecting people and possibilities around the world. Glenn’s contributions extend well beyond FedEx, serving on the boards of directors for Pentair Inc. and Level 3 Communications. He is active in the Memphis community, serving on the boards of Madonna Learning Center and Youth Programs, Inc., the host organization of the FedEx St Jude Classic. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Glenn earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi and his master’s degree from the University of Memphis. Glenn and his wife Donna have two daughters, Hatley and Katherine, and one son, Tucker.
