2016 Oakland Raiders Gameday 7

Coach Dennis Allen called me saying that they were thinking about taking me, this, this and that. I didn’t even take a visit here, so I wasn’t really familiar with the coaches or anything like that. But, it didn’t end up happening. I went to the Redskins and when I got released, I don’t know. It just kind of stuck out in my head, ‘I think I might be going to Oakland.’ I really had no idea, but I was just thinking about other teams and then just thinking, ‘Yeah, I think I’m going to Oakland.’ And, I ended up really coming here.” Q: Since you’re arrival, who have you connected most with? Amerson: “Definitely the DBs, DJ Hayden. We became pretty tight since I’ve been here and since Sean’s Smith been here I’ve been pretty tight with him. Pretty much all of the DB’s I’m really close with and with assistant defensive backs coach Rod Woodson being a position coach, Rod Woodson, I’ve really been close with him.” Q: How has your time on the West Coast compared to growing up on the East Coast? Amerson: “I think it fits me in a way. It’s cool and nice weather, laid back, you know? I like it out here. I still like the East Coast too, but I like the back and forth. I like getting the best of both worlds.” Q: 10 years from now, where do you hope to be? Amerson: “Hopefully still in the league, Lord willing. But if not, I definitely want to be somewhere hopefully having a lot of things going on for myself as far as business-wise.” Rapid Fire with David Amerson We asked Amerson to say the first thing that came to mind when he heard these specific words: Football = Passion Thanksgiving = Love it Raider Nation = Love ‘em California = Very nice College = Memorable experience Video game = Used to love them Movie = Scarface Swag = Just got to have it Head Coach Jack Del Rio = Hard-nosed Role model = My brother (Noah Amerson) 92 Gameday MAGAZINE
