C A M P I N G W O R L D S T A D I U M In 2016, Camping World became the new title sponsor of Orlando’s football stadium and the upcoming kickoff game series. When the naming rights were announced, the stadium formerly known as the Citrus Bowl became known as Camping World Stadium thanks to a new, long-term exclusive agreement as the stadium’s new naming rights partner. Camping World Stadium was rebuilt into a state-of-the-art venue in 2014, capable of hosting world-class events. About 90% of the stadium was torn down and replaced in less than 10 months, including portions that have stood since its original construction in 1937. Only the upper decks, which were added in 1990 and remain viable as part of a modern facility, remained. The new Camping World Stadium offers an enhanced fan experience at every level, with wider, chair-back seating, new concessions areas and restrooms, and new club and premium spaces throughout the building. In its first year after the renovation, the stadium hosted its traditional calendar of events including the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl, Russell Athletic Bowl, Florida Blue Florida Classic and Monster Jam. It served as the home venue for MLS expansion team Orlando City SC, who kicked off their season in front of a sellout crowd. Other soccer events included international friendlies between the Mexico and Costa Rica and the final stop of the United States Women’s National Team’s “Victory Tour” against Brazil. The stadium also hosted its first concert after reconstruction with The Rolling Stones making Orlando the only Florida stop on their Zip Code tour, 34 years after playing the old Citrus Bowl stadium in 1981. The recent Orlando stop was the highest-grossing of the Stones’ entire tour. Since reconstruction, Camping World Stadium’s calendar has continued to fill up. Orlando hosts a third bowl game, the Autonation Cure Bowl presented by Florida Hospital, in early December. The stadium also hosted the inaugural Camping World Kickoff that saw Florida State University defeat Ole Miss in a battle of then top-ten teams. The stadium also hosts the Florida Blue Florida Classic, the annual showdown between Florida A&M and Bethune Cookman University. Camping World Stadium was also the home to the 2016 Dr. Pepper ACC Championship football game and the 2016 FHSAA state championship football games for all eight classifications.
