Pistons in the Community The mission of Detroit Heart is to inspire and impact the community through a commitment to education and mentoring, health and fitness, military recognition, and basic needs, as well as NBA sponsored programs and player charities. Please visit PISTONS.COM/COMUNITY for more information on Detroit Heart programming and initiatives. 102 Detroit Pistons 2016–17 Yearbook Programming black history month The Pistons will host the 12th Annual Black History Month Scholarship Event hosted by Pistons Legend Rick Mahorn. The Pistons will also host a special event with the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. The Pistons will unveil a new Game Changers program that focuses on recognizing teachers who go above and beyond to create a successful environment for their students. autism awareness The Pistons will participate in World Autism Awareness Day on April 2 through hosting affected families at home games and partnering with organizations that assist those living with Autism. anti-bullying The Pistons will make a commitment to box out bullying by partnering with Defeat the Label to create a pledge and PSA to encourage fans to take a stand against bullying. employee volunteer program The Palace Sports & Entertainment staff has committed to making an impact on the local community with a goal of 1,000 service hours throughout the 2016-17 season, which kicked-off with Life Remodeled and cleaning up neighborhoods in Detroit. The Pistons will promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle through clinics, cooking classes, as well as educational and interactive events.
