2017 Anthem Annual February

Lucky Number Seven Jimmie Johnson Takes Home Seventh Championship On the heels of only modestly successful 2014 and 2015 seasons by his lofty standards, Jimmie Johnson entered the 2016 NASCAR season in an unusual position — largely under the proverbial radar. Johnson, who rang up a record-breaking five consecutive championships from 2006-2010 and added another in 2013, continued to go fairly unnoticed throughout much of the season as he scored only two victories and endured a 24-race drought that stretched from mid-March to early October. But Johnson, as he has on numerous occasions throughout his renowned career, took it up a notch when it mattered most. He won twice in the first seven playoff races, punching his ticket to the Championship 4 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the process. 144 ANTHEM MOTORSPORTS ANNUAL Jimmie Johnson’s seventh Monster Energy NASCAR Series title tied him with Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt for the most championships all-time.
