RAVENS SPECIAL TEAMS: Building on the Extraordinary By Megan Boyle Special Teams Coordinator/Associate Head Coach Jerry Rosburg has been at the helm of Baltimore’s special teams unit for the past nine seasons, and since then, he has branded it as one of the NFL’s top outfits. Rosburg helped cultivate the Ravens’ core special teams trio of kicker Justin Tucker, punter Sam Koch and long snapper Morgan Cox – all Pro Bowlers. The veteran coach was instrumental in the recruiting and signing of Tucker in 2012, and the successful trifecta now enters its sixth-consecutive season after a remarkable 2016 campaign. Tucker is the most accurate NFL kicker of all time, and last season, scored a franchise-best 141 points while connecting on 38 of 39 field goals, including a perfect 10 for 10 on kicks of 50 yards or more. Koch, who earned the Pro Bowl in 2015, totaled 80 punts for over 3,000 yards while averaging 45.8 yards per boot, including a 39.9 net average and 37 punts inside the 20. And, as he has since 2010 when he signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent, Cox was steady and accurate, earning his second-straight Pro Bowl as a “need” player. Looking to gain as much experience as these standout performers will be wide receiver Chris Moore (right), who is eager to showcase his speed as a kick returner. In his 2016 rookie season, he tallied seven returns for 162 yards, averaging 23.1 yards per attempt. Also working to provide a spark in the return game will be WR/RS Michael Campanaro (left), who enters his fourth season in Baltimore, in addition to several other young players who will vie to make an impact on special teams. 2017 BALTIMORE RAVENS YEARBOOK 109
