As the longest-running tenant at the Alamodome, the Valero Alamo Bowl has drawn more
than 1.5 million spectators since its beginning and has generated in excess of $863 million in
total economic impact for the City of San Antonio.
The Alamodome has also hosted nine neutral site games, such as the 2009 and 2016 Shamrock
Series games that featured Notre Dame host Washington State and Navy respectively. In total,
33 games have attracted over 2.35 million spectators (over 50 percent are out-of-town visitors)
and generated a direct economic impact of $560 million. The Bowl has contributed over $98
million to higher education through team payouts and local scholarships over the past 26 years.
In addition to hosting the Valero Alamo Bowl and other NCAA events, the Alamodome is home
to the newly-founded San Antonio Commanders of the Alliance of American Football, which
starts play in February. The UTSA Roadrunners of Conference USA have played their home
games in the Alamodome since 2011.
