COLLEGE FOOTBALL’S MOST COVETED COACHING AWARD
These days, college football has “Coach of the Year” awards
coming from every corner, with little to distinguish one from
One coaching award, however, stands head and shoulders above
the rest. The Dodd Trophy presented by the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl
honors much more than a coach’s success on the field.
The Dodd Trophy, named for legendary Georgia Tech coach Bobby
Dodd, was established in 1976 to honor the FBS football coach
whose program represents three pillars of success: Scholarship,
Leadership and Integrity. College football’s most coveted coaching
award honors the coach of a team with a successful season on
the field and equally as important, stresses the importance of
academic excellence and desire to give back to the community.
In 2014, Peach Bowl, Inc. officially assumed management of this
prestigious award, collaborating with the Bobby Dodd Coach of
the Year Foundation to elevate and increase exposure of The Dodd
Trophy. The mutually beneficial partnership gives what has been
called the “Heisman Trophy” of coaching a national platform that
only a College Football Playoff bowl game can provide, including
an ongoing ‘watch list,’ a Coach of the Week award and elevated
exposure during the bowl game itself.
As philosophically aligned organizations, Peach Bowl, Inc. and
The Dodd Trophy are committed to recognizing and celebrating
scholarship, leadership and integrity now and into the future. Both
organizations are proud to honor Notre Dame Head Coach Brian
Kelly as the recipient of the 2018 Dodd Trophy.
Under Kelly’s leadership, the Irish finished the regular season with a
perfect 12-0 record, earning a berth in the College Football Playoff.
In addition to his efforts on the field, Coach Kelly led Notre Dame

and finished with the third-highest NCAA Graduation Success Rate
among all FBS programs. Outside of football, Coach Kelly’s “The
