LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR POLITO RECEIVES
“FRIEND OF HOUSING AWARD” AT ANNUAL
INSTALLATION AND AWARDS GALA

The Starting Gate at Great Horse Country Club was the site of the 2018 HBRAMA Annual Installation and Awards Dinner at
which Karyn Polito, Lieutenant Governor was presented with the HBRAMA “Friend of Housing Award”. The award was presented
to the Lieutenant Governor for her commitment to providing safe and affordable housing to the
citizens of Massachusetts. During the event Polito discussed the Baker administration’s work in the
housing industry including the administrations “Housing Choice Initiative”.
Nearly 200 members and guests participated in the event. The Lieutenant Governor honored
the Association by swearing in the incoming Home Builders and Remodelers Association of
Massachusetts senior officer team. First sworn in was Matt
Anderson, President Elect – followed by Emerson Clauss,
1st Vice President – Jeff Brem, Vice President / Treasurer
and Robin Ward, Secretary. Following the swearing in of
the officers, Lieutenant Governor issued the oath of office
to incoming President, Hunter Marosits. (See page 6 for
more background on the Sr. Officer team)

their business and their significant contributions to the Association, their high standards
of professionalism and generous community service over the course of their 25 plus year
careers in the industry. (See page xx for details on the 2018 Legends recipients)

Outgoing President Gary Campbell thanked the board of directors for their
commitment throughout the year in helping to move the Association forward.
He presented special Presidential Awards to John Smolak, Mark Leff, Jeff Brem and
Mark Kablack for their outstanding contributions during his term in office, chairing
committees and making enormous inroads in their
respective committees on behalf of the industry.
This jam-packed evening also featured guest speaker
Greg Ugalde, First Vice Chairman of the National
Association of Home Builders who updated the
audience on the efforts of the National Association in
the areas of lumber tariffs, immigration and work force
development. After his presentation Greg awarded
Andy Crane, Master of Ceremonies for the evening with
his 1000 spike pin for successfully recruiting more than
1000 members to the Association over the course of his
career. The evening capped off with Hunter Marotsis
awarding Campbell with a plaque for his service along
with a past President’s pin.
