2018 OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE MONTANA PETROLEUM ASSOCIATION
Two questions that will make you ten times as persuasive CONTINUEd
everyone will agree to it. is turns out to be the key to quickly and
e ectively bridging the context chasm.
Here’s how that works in practice. Whenever I get into a discussion
about energy, before I discuss facts, I rst get agreement on the
framework using two simple questions:
1. Do you agree that the right decision is the one that will be best
for human beings now and in the future?
2. Do you agree that to make the right decision we can’t be biased—
we have to look carefully at the pros and cons of the di erent
Almost everyone will agree to these—it is far easier to get agreement
on the framework than the facts. And once you get agreement
on the framework, it leads to much better reception of the facts. With
two simple questions you’ve now transformed the person you’re
talking to into a better energy thinker than 99.9% of the population.
Try these questions out and see how they work for you. If you’d
