COYOTES COMMITTED TO ARIZONA COMMUNITY
The Coyotes regular season runs from October through April, but the
team’s commitment to the greater Phoenix metropolitan area and the
state of Arizona is a year-round labor of love.
“Our team has been in the Valley for more than 20 years now and
we’ve obviously had a lot of ups and downs, but we’re not going to
get where we want to go unless we’re a part of the fabric of this
community,” Team President and CEO Ahron Cohen said.
Last year alone, the Coyotes invested $2.7 million in Arizona between
the team’s community and youth hockey programs.
“We take great pride in our engagement with the community and
we want to see the results pay off for years to come,” Cohen said.
“That commitment is really ingrained in our mission statement for our
entire company. We have made a long-term commitment to Arizona.
We want to make this a better place to live.”
Since 1996, the Arizona Coyotes Foundation has donated millions
of dollars in the form of grants to local non-profit organizations
supporting children and servicemen and women. Without these
funds, some of the community’s most deserving non-profits wouldn’t
have the opportunity to make a positive, and sometimes life-altering
impact on those they serve. Leveraging the team’s community ties and
support of the Arizona Coyotes fan base, the team has helped hundreds
of Arizona non-profits fulfill their missions with monetary and in-kind
For example, one such donation occurred in April of 2018 when the
Arizona Coyotes Foundation presented $250,000 to Phoenix Children’s
Hospital. The money, which the team raised over a three-year period,
was allocated toward the hospital’s Center for Cancer and Blood
Disorders, a new state-of-the-art building which is the sixth busiest
clinic of its type in the United States.
“As you can imagine, treatment of cancer is very, very expensive and
it takes multiple years as kids go through the process, so the families
really need the help and the support,” said Tim Harrison, the hospital’s
Vice President of Corporate Partnerships. “This donation by the Coyotes
is helping our sickest patients, the ones who are in the fights of their
lives. The money donated is providing critical care, and helping us
provide groundbreaking research utilizing the very best talent, the
very best clinicians. We’re extremely grateful for the partnership with
The Arizona Coyotes Foundation regularly hosts fundraising events
to engage Coyotes fans and to inspire the community to give back to
those in need, including a 50/50 raffle at all home games, which also
is accessible online. The foundation also raises funds via an annual
Celebrity Waiters Gala, and an annual Celebrity Golf Tournament. Both
events allow fans the chance to meet and mingle with the team’s
