The 2018-19 American Hockey League campaign is
underway as the Cleveland Monsters enter their 12th AHL
season in franchise history. Head Coach John Madden, a
three-time Stanley Cup Champion, returns for his third
season at the helm as the team looks to earn a berth
in the Calder Cup Playoffs for the first time since they
hoisted the Cup at the conclusion of the 2015-16 season.
The Monsters shift to a new conference and division
this season, moving from the Western Conference’s
Central Division to the Eastern Conference’s North
Division for 2018-19 alongside the Belleville Senators,
Binghamton Devils, Laval Rocket, Rochester Americans,
Syracuse Crunch, Toronto Marlies, and Utica Comets.
The team’s 76-game regular season schedule features
eight matchups apiece versus Belleville, Laval,
Rochester, and Toronto, along with four matchups each
versus Binghamton, Syracuse, and Utica. Cleveland will
additionally face four Atlantic Division teams four times
apiece (the Charlotte Checkers, Hershey Bears, Lehigh
Valley Phantoms, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins),
and four of the Monsters’ former Central Division foes
(the Chicago Wolves, Grand Rapids Griffins, Milwaukee
Admirals, and Rockford IceHogs) four times each as well.
