UTAH 52, OREGON STATE 7
GAME SIX – OCT. 12 – CORVALLIS, OREGON
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The University of Utah football program dominated the Oregon
State Beavers on, winning 52-7.
Utah’s 52 points is the most points Utah has scored since its 54-point outing
against San Jose State in 2017 and is the most points in a Pac-12 game since
scoring 52 against UCLA in 2016. It was the largest margin of victory (45 points)
against a Pac-12 opponent since joining the conference at that time.
The Utes finished the game with 503 yards on offense while holding Oregon
State to 217, including just 48 yards rushing. Utah has now held all six of its
opponents to under 100 yards rushing.
Zack Moss led the Utes in rushing, finishing with 121 yards on five carries
(24.2 ypc) with two touchdowns. He is now tied for the school record in career
100-yard rushing games (14) and needs 55 rushing yards to break the program
record for career rushing yards (3,165).
Tyler Huntley was 14-of-17 passing for 247 yards and two touchdowns, becoming
one of just three quarterbacks in the FBS that has yet to throw an interception
this season. Demari Simpkins led the Utes in receiving as Huntley’s favorite target
against the Beavers, recording four receptions for a season high 97 yards while
both Brant Kuithe (2 rec., 44 yds) and Samson Nacua (3 rec., 46 yds) scored
Jaylon Johnson had a team-high eight tackles on defense, adding a tackle
for loss and two pass breakups while Francis Bernard contributed six tackles,
one tackle for loss and a quarterback hurry. Devin Lloyd also had a strong game
with four tackles, a sack and Utah’s longest pick-six of the season with a 64-yard
return for a touchdown.
UTAH 21, ARIZONA STATE 3
GAME SEVEN – OCT. 19 – SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH
SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah football team came away with a gritty
win over the No. 17 Arizona State Sun Devils on a rainy day, winning 21-3.
The Utes defense was outstanding in the top 20 battle, holding Arizona State
to 136 yards of total offense, including keeping the Sun Devil quarterback to just
25 passing yards. Utah finished the game with an interception, a forced fumble
and three sacks to hold the Sun Devils to their lowest point total of the season.
On offense, Zack Moss made history with his 25 carries for 99 rushing yards and
two touchdowns, breaking the school record in career rushing yards (3,264) while
also tying the program record in career rushing touchdowns at 31. He also had a
career high 78 receiving yards on three catches to give him 177 all-purpose yards.
Tyler Huntley finished the game 12-of-19 passing (0 TD, 0 INT) for 171 yards,
adding 32 rushing yards on four carries. He moved into fifth all-time in career
passing yards with 5,823 yards through 30 career games.
On defense, Devin Lloyd recorded eight tackles to lead the team, adding a
pass breakup. John Penisini put up six tackles, including a tackles for loss and
a pass breakup with Julian Blackmon and Terrell Burgess notching five tackles
each with Blackmon forcing a fumble as well.
Bradlee Anae had three tackles on the game, all three coming in the form of sacks
to give him 24 career sacks. He now ranks seventh all-time in program history.
