IT’S MORE THAN A GAME
The Valero Alamo Bowl is one of college football’s most popular
bowl games and has been a staple of San Antonio’s culture
since its inception in 1993. While the game itself remains
the focal point of Bowl Week, the San Antonio bowl experience is
one that will stick with you for years to come. Once you attend the
Valero Alamo Bowl, you realize it’s more than a game.
RUDY’S BAR-B-Q PEP RALLY
The Rudy’s Bar-B-Q Pep Rally is one of the most
exciting events of Bowl Week. Two days before the
big game, the San Antonio River Walk plays host to
college football’s most unique pep rally. While the head
coaches, team captains and cheerleaders take part
in a spirited pep rally at the Arneson River Theatre on
the River Walk, the school bands and the rest of the
players excite the crowd by making a grand entrance
on San Antonio’s famous river cruisers.
This is a “must see” event during Bowl Week that
gives fans a chance to wear their favorite colors and
show their team pride. The pep bands also participate
in “battle of the bands” to see which fan base can cheer
the loudest during this one-of-a-kind event.
The day before the teams hit the field, everyone
comes together at the PrimeSport Kickoff Luncheon.
More than 1,500 spirited football fans come to experience
the anticipation and festive atmosphere surrounding the big game. Emceed
by ESPN’s broadcast crew, fans are treated to first-hand insight from the two head coaches
and team captains. Fans can also revel in the pageantry of college football courtesy of the
bands and cheerleaders.
VALERO ALAMO BOWL BASH
The night before the big game, fans can celebrate Bowl Week in style at the Valero Alamo
Bowl Bash. Held at the Stars at Night Ballroom in the Convention Center, guests will experience
Texas-sized hospitality with multiple gourmet food stations, open bars, live music and casino
games with chances to win great prizes.
The Fan Zone is the official gathering place before the 27th annual Valero Alamo Bowl. More
than 20,000 fans, both alumni groups and university bands will come together to celebrate
before the big game. Located one block north of the Alamodome at Sunset Station, this fun
and exciting event is free to the public from 1-6 p.m. on game day.
POST-GAME NEW YEAR’S EVE CELEBRATION
After a day of tailgating and what is sure to be another thrilling bowl game, fans are
invited to stay late to party with 65,000 of their closest friends. In honor of New Year’s Eve,
the Alamodome will stay open until 12:30 a.m. so fans can watch the fireworks light up the
sky right next door against the Tower of Americas backdrop.
On the Alamodome North Plaza, fans will enjoy food trucks, a DJ and access to Alamodome
concessions and restrooms as we countdown until midnight.
