Mercedes-Benz Stadium is the first professional sports stadium in North America to receive
LEED Platinum certification, obtaining more points than any other sports facility in the world
Mercedes-Benz Stadium can power nine Atlanta Falcons games or 13 Atlanta United
matches with renewable energy generated through 4,000 solar PV panels located around
100% compostable food and beverage packaging.
The 1900 wireless access points (more than any other NFL stadium) installed throughout
the stadium are built to accommodate 75,000 people simultaneously streaming HD Video.
More than 2,400 video displays can be seen throughout the building.
The 4,000 miles of fiber optic cable installed in the stadium would go from Atlanta to Los
Angeles and back.
Over 3,000 speakers help deliver the ultimate acoustical experience.
The Home Depot Backyard is an 11-acre park that will be activated over 300 days per year,
not only on Falcons and Atlanta United game days, but also with cultural events, community
functions, entertainment and various other activities that bring families and friends together.
To date, Westside Works has generated $15 million in wages earned by Westside residents
who have gone through the program and placed into living-wage jobs. The stadium has
hired nearly 150 Westside residents to help operate the stadium and 40 Westside youth are
serving in a guest relations capacity at MBS.
As a part of the Westside Works program, Westside residents are operating a concession
stand within the stadium (West Nest, in the 300 concourse).
