UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA
Established in 1890, the University of Oklahoma is a doctoral degreegranting
university and leader in research, health care and academic activity
impacting the state of Oklahoma and global community. The Norman
campus enrolls more than 28,000 undergraduate and graduate students, the
Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City enrolls more than 3,000 students
and the OU-Tulsa campus enrolls more than 1,000. This year, OU welcomed
more than 4,500 freshmen, the largest incoming freshman class in OU
history. With an average 26.0 ACT and 3.62 GPA, it is also one of the most
academically qualified classes in OU history.
The Class of 2023 joins OU at a time when the University is intently focused
on cultivating a culture of diversity and inclusivity on the three campuses.
The University is committed to becoming a leader in this area. As part of
the roadmap to further diversity and inclusion efforts at OU, the #WeAre
campaign was established as a University-wide movement dedicated to
community and togetherness.
The 2018-19 academic year was the best year ever for research and creative
activity in the University’s history. Research grants and contracts were up 20
percent from the previous year and up 66 percent from two years previously.
OU researchers are partnering with the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National
Science Foundation, Department of Defense, Health Resources and Services
Administration, U.S. Department of Education, National Institute of Health,
Department of Energy and many other funding agencies and organizations.
