PEACH BOWL, INC.:
GIVING BACK THROUGH HIGHER EDUCATION
Most fans know Peach Bowl, Inc. as a leader in college football, but what they may
not know is how far that leadership extends off the field.
Long known as “College Football’s Most Charitable Bowl Organization,” Peach Bowl,
Inc. has turned its attention to supporting higher education – most notably through its
endowed scholarship program and academic mentoring program in the Atlanta Public
Over the past decade, the Bowl has strengthened its commitment to education, most
recently through the creation of its Endowed Scholarship Program in 2007– an initiative
that currently operates Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl scholarships at 32 universities with
combined assets of more than $6.9 million. Through those scholarships, the Bowl is
providing tuition support for dozens of students for the 2019-2020 academic year, a
number that is expected to continue to grow.
The academic support that Peach Bowl, Inc. provides enables students to partake in
activities that were once out of reach. For a majority of the students, receiving these
funds has helped alleviate the financial burden and economic strain that pursuing higher
education brings. These scholarships have prevented students from having to get second
–and in some cases, third – jobs, freeing up time to focus on their academics, engage in
extracurricular activities or even join a club on campus.
Peach Bowl, Inc. is also invested in education in its home community by sponsoring and
operating an academic mentoring program within Atlanta Public Schools. Since 2007,
the Bowl has sponsored the Play It Smart program, providing $150,000 annually to fund
the initiative in all 11 Atlanta Public High Schools. To date, the Bowl has contributed
approximately $2 million in support of the program and is the only organization in the
nation to fully fund a program like this for an entire school district.
The program provides an “Academic Coach” to serve student-athletes in the high schools.
That coach serves many roles for the students, including advocate, counselor, mentor,
tutor and friend, with the goals of keeping the student in school, helping improve study
habits and grades, preparing for and completing college entrance exams, and transitioning
Last year, program seniors achieved a 100 percent graduation rate, while 97 percent took
the ACT/SAT and applied to college – figures that far surpass those of their peer group.
What’s more, participants have access to Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Endowed Scholarships.
In fact, 13 of the current students receiving financial support are graduates of the program.
With a commitment to educational support unmatched in the Bowl industry, it’s clear
that Peach Bowl Inc.’s impact will continue to grow minds and improve futures for years
