ON BEHALF OF THE 48 THOUSAND PEOPLE WHO MAKE UP THE TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY ACROSS
MEMPHIS AND SHELBY COUNTY, it is our privilege at Memphis Tourism and the Memphis Sports Council to welcome
football fans from near and far to the 61st annual AutoZone Liberty Bowl Football Classic.
The AutoZone Liberty Bowl is as much a part of Memphis as Beale Street and Graceland. In all the years this annual game
has called our city home, we’ve hosted storied football programs, along with hundreds of thousands of visitors who made the
journey to the Home of Blues, Soul & Rock ‘n’ Roll to cheer on their team. This year we welcome back our friends and fans of
the Kansas State Wildcats along with the Midshipmen from the United States Naval Academy. The AutoZone Liberty Bowl is
rich in tradition and patriotism, we couldn’t be more pleased with these two teams that fit the core values of what this game
and day is all about.
It’s always an honor to host two hardworking teams that have earned the opportunity to take the field on New Year’s Eve
in a nationally televised game. Part of the mission of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl has always been to create an outstanding
experience for not only the student-athletes, cheerleaders and band members, but faculty, staff, alumni and fans attending
the game. What makes this annual event even more special is the ability to use this powerful sports platform to help showcase
the mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital here in Memphis, to save lives and find cures for childhood cancer and
