Lakers in the Community
Los Angeles and Hawaii. Each site was remodeled with new carpet,
paint, bookshelves, tables, chairs, sofas, children’s books, and
framed Lakers photos, offering children a safe and fun learning
environment dedicated to literacy.
LAKERS “TEAM UP”
Lakers Team Up is the organization’s service initiative, designed to
allow the Lakers staff to give back to our community. Last season we
donated our time to many local and national nonprofit organizations,
including: Ronald McDonald House, LA’s Best, Salvation Army,
Edison Elementary, Baby2Baby, Playworks, TreePeople and A Place
In collaboration with wish granting organizations, the Los Angeles
Lakers regularly provide game tickets and arrange player meetings
for children and adults facing life-threatening medical conditions.
Over the past 20 years, the Lakers have granted over 400 special
wishes for children and adults from all over the United States,
Canada, and as far away as Israel and the Netherlands.
Junior Lakers is the Los Angeles Lakers official youth basketball
initiative. With Junior Lakers, the Lakers and the Lakers Youth
Foundation work with Los Angeles youth to develop fundamental
basketball skills, teamwork, sportsmanship and community
involvement, with positive adult supervision. The Lakers impact
over 130,000 Los Angeles youth basketball players across multiple
Junior Lakers Leagues with after-school programs including the
Boys & Girls Club and LA’s Best, presented by UCLA Health, as well
as Playworks, presented by Wish, and After-School All Stars.
