Lakers in the Community
mingling with the 300 guests from LAFD, Mixed Roots, Boys
& Girls Club and the Los Angeles Unified School District. The
Thanksgiving festivities continued with the Annual Miracle
on Manchester Turkey Giveaway at the Salvation Army in
Inglewood. Lakers players and the Laker Girls distributed
over 300 turkeys to the community, along with pies, dinner
rolls and Lakers goodies.
In December, the Lakers and East West Bank hosted a funfilled
holiday party for children from local youth organizations
across Los Angeles. Kids were treated to a day of holiday
fun, with decorating cookies, making holiday cards, playing
games and meeting the Lakers players and Laker Girls. The
Grinch even made an appearance to surprise the kids! Each
child got to take a photo with a Lakers player on a big Lakers
Santa chair, and received presents and toys from the Lakers.
HEALTH AND FITNESS INITIATIVES
The Lakers are dedicated to helping their fans live a healthy
lifestyle. To emphasize the importance of health and fitness,
the Lakers sponsor programs that reward local students for
being active about their health.
Field Day with the Los Angeles Lakers, presented by UCLA
Health, aims to educate the community about the importance
of physical fitness and having fun. During the 2018-2019
season, students and teachers from Playworks LA were invited
to the Lakers Field Day, presented by UCLA Health. A total of
250 students from 5 different elementary schools throughout
Los Angeles County came out to the 2nd Annual Lakers Field
Day, for an afternoon of fun field games with the Laker Girls
and Laker players.
