“I chose MIT because it is known for its incredible STEM
opportunities in education and research, all while located in
one of the rowing hotspots of the world. What really hooked
me on MIT, however, was the people. From my recruit visit
in fall 2017 to CPW in 2018, I was just blown away by how
dedicated, hard-working, diverse, selfless, supportive and
interesting everyone was—far more than anything I’ve ever
experienced before.” - Jaime Martin ‘22
As announced by USRowing,
Higginbotham and Martin
were both selected to the
2020 Under 23 Women’s
National Team Selection
Camp. (FULL STORY)

“Being a student-athlete at MIT is an extremely
valuable experience. I have found that I am
able to better handle the workload at MIT
because I am able to take a break from
school with practice and have a supportive
community of teammates. I have really
enjoyed being a student-athlete overall.”
- Sarah Quraishi ‘21
“One of my favorite memories of our team is
the Muri Cup/Beanpot race last spring. The
weather was the some of the worst I have
experienced for a race, and the conditions
made it difficult to row cleanly. Our team
handled it well—the tough conditions
brought us together and we came off
the water feeling like we had raced our
hardest and had a successful competition.”
- Sophie Anderson ‘21
“I came to MIT because of a foldable I got
in the mail. It told me that at MIT I could be
crazy ambitious and would have the resources
and support I needed to change the world. It
told me I would find teams, project groups,
opportunities, and experiences that would
allow me to build connections, understand the
world’s most challenging problems, and grow
as an individual. As an eager nerd from a small
town, this was an offer I could not pass up.”
- Natalie Northrup ‘22
