“I chose to attend MIT for a few
reasons: First, MIT is one of the
best STEM schools in the country,
with one of the best computer
science programs. Second, I
could actively play squash since
MIT competes at the Division III
level, which meant that I could
balance work and athletics while
dedicating myself to my passion
of squash. Finally, MIT gave me
a desire to challenge myself
both physically and mentally.”

“Being a student-athlete at MIT requires a balance between academic responsibility
and being on a competitive team. I enjoy having an outlet to compete and spend
time with the team. It’s a great bond and connection to have going into MIT, as your
teammates are great mentors from the beginning to help you during your time on
campus.” - Henry Martin ‘21
“The most memorable experience on the MIT
squash team was when we won the national
championship my sophomore year. We were
underdogs going into the tournament, and
it felt amazing to prove to ourselves and to
everyone else that our hard work had paid
off. On top of that, we also won the Most
Improved Award and the Sportsmanship
Award that year, both of which I think are
even more so than the championship a
testament to the excellent program Coach
Lincou and my teammates have cultivated.”

MIT defeated the U.S. Naval Academy for the
first time in program history in November by a
6-3 final score. The all-time series with Navy
dates back to the 1948-49 season. Not only did
the Engineers beat the Midshipmen once, they
duplicated their efforts in February with a 5-4
victory at the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference
Championship. (FULL STORY)

“My favorite experience as a member of the
squash team was our win over Williams in
the semifinals of nationals my sophomore
year. Williams was a better team (on paper)
than us and we had just lost to them a week
before. We all went into the match with a
nothing to lose attitude, got an early lead
and ended up pulling off the upset. It was
an awesome experience to see everyone
play their best and watch how excited
Coach Lincou was to see us get that win.”
