“It was my dream to attend MIT ever since
I visited the place when I was ten years old. I
admired it then for the awe that people talked
about it with and its engineering prowess. Eight
years later I chose to attend MIT because I can
pursue my passion for engineering, continue
competing in water polo, and go to the place I
always dreamed of.” - Colin Weaver ‘24
“Competing for the inaugural Division III
National Championship in 2019 was one of
the highlights of my MIT water polo career. As
a team, we flew out to California to compete
against the top Division III water polo teams in the
nation. Despite only getting third, it was a great
opportunity to play alongside my teammates one
last time.” - Evan Kim ‘21

“I chose MIT because I had the opportunity to
study at one of the top engineering schools in the
world while continuing to play the sport I love at
a high level. It was one of the few schools that
balanced the two and I was excited to join such
a collaborative environment that would prepare
me for life after college.” - Evan Kim ‘21
MIT water polo head coach Austin Ringheim wrapped up his first season in historic fashion with
the Engineers in 2019. He guided the Engineers to a third place finish at the inaugural USA Water
Polo Division III National Championship in California and to the most wins in a season since 2015.
At the first-ever National Championship event hosted at his alma mater, MIT defeated rival Johns
Hopkins, 20-13, to finish in third place. He coached two ACWPC Division III All-Americans in
Clyde Huibregtse and Miller Geschke and his squad posted the top GPA in the country for the
sixth time in program history. (FULL BIO)
“Being a student-athlete at MIT means having an immediate
connection to a group of hard-working individuals the moment
you are accepted to the school. Especially during COVID-19 when
most first-years are not on campus, I know that there is a group
of people that I can always call on for help with anything I need.”
